Magnification and evolution biases in large-scale structure surveys

چکیده

Abstract Measurements of galaxy clustering in upcoming surveys such as those planned for the Euclid and Roman satellites, SKA Observatory, will be sensitive to distortions from lensing magnification Doppler effects, beyond standard redshift-space distortions. The amplitude these contributions depends sensitively on bias evolution number density. Magnification quantifies change observed galaxies gained or lost by magnification, while physical density relative conserved case. These biases are given derivatives density, consequently very form luminosity function. We give a careful derivation biases, clarifying results literature. then examine variety surveys, encompassing line intensity mapping at radio optical/near-infrared wavelengths.

Large-Scale Structure & Future Surveys

As the 2dF Galaxy Redshift Survey and Sloan Digital Sky Survey move toward completion, it is time to ask what the next generation of survey of large-scale structure should be. I discuss some of the cosmological justifications for such surveys and conclude that surveys at z = 3 offer a critical advantage in their ability to access linear-regime clustering at scales smaller than any current surve...

Large-scale Surveys and Cosmic Structure

These lectures deal with our current knowledge of the matter distribution in the universe, fo-cusing on how this is studied via the large-scale structure seen in galaxy surveys. We first assemble the necessary basics needed to understand the development of density fluctuations in an expanding universe, and discuss how galaxies are located within the dark-matter density field. Results from the 2...

Redshift Surveys and Large–scale Structure

I review the present status of the mapping of the large–scale structure of the Universe through wide–angle redshift surveys. In the first part of the paper, I discuss the current state of the art, describing in some detail the recently completed ESO Slice Project. In the second, I recall some of the basic motivations for performing larger surveys. Then, in the final section, I present in detail...

Large-Scale Structure from Wide-Field Surveys

In this introductory talk I give an elementary overview of the development, current status, and near term outlook for three probes of large scale structure; galaxy clustering, bulk flows and weak lensing observations. 1 The Paradigm for Structure Formation This meeting is largely concerned with the major observational expansion occurring in the field of wide-field cosmological surveys. These ad...

Magnification Effects as Measures of Large-scale Structure

The magnification effects of clustered matter produce variations in the image sizes and number density of galaxies across the sky. This paper advocates the use of these effects in wide field surveys to map largescale structure and the profiles of galaxy and cluster sized halos. The magnitude of the size variation as a function of angular scale is computed and the signal-to-noise is estimated fo...
